Jeffrey Flug Lecture: Millennium Village Project and Social Entrepreneurship

The UNC-Duke-Bennett Millennium Village Project is pleased to welcome Jeff Flug, the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Millennium Promise Alliance, and one of Fortune 500’s Ten “Faces of Philanthropy.” For the past six years, Jeff Flug was Managing Director and Head of North American Institutional Sales at JP Morgan’s Investment Bank. Prior, he served as Managing Director for Goldman Sachs & Co. in its Fixed Income Division for 12 years. Jeff Flug is now dedicated to leading Millennium Promise, in collaboration with its key partners, The Earth Institute at Columbia University and the UN Millennium Project, in the work to eradicate extreme poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals. He works closely with the Millennium Village Project team on the implementation and operation of the Millennium Villages development model, and coordinates other Millennium Promise initiatives aimed at ending extreme poverty. In this regard, Jeff Flug has played an integral role in the organization and execution of the White House Summit on Malaria. In his lecture, Jeff Flug will discuss his reasons for moving from the business world to Millennium Promise, give a description of the Millennium Village Project development model and how it will work, and explain how the Millennium Village Project makes sense within a business framework.
